2. What this is about
Room Architect shows you how a room or a garden could look after a change. You
photograph the room, describe what you want changed, and the app creates a new
picture from it. To do that we process your photo and your wish. This policy
tells you which data that is, how long it stays and what rights you have.
3. No user account
The app requires no registration. We ask for no name, no email address and no
postal address. Your device registers silently on first launch and receives an
identifier that applies to this app only.
4. What we process
4.1 Photos and drafts
When you take a photo or pick one from your library, the app transmits it to our
server. The same applies to the area you mark when you want to change one spot
only, and to an earlier draft you keep working on.
We do not store these pictures permanently. They sit on the server while they
are being processed and for at most 24 hours afterwards, so that you can collect
your result in the app. After that the server deletes them.
- Purpose: creating the new picture, recognising the type of room
- Legal basis: performance of a contract, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR
- Retention: at most 24 hours on the server. On your device the pictures
stay until you delete them.
Please do not photograph people or documents. The app needs the room, not the
people in it.
4.2 Your wish, typed or spoken
You send your wish either as text or you speak it. If you speak it, the app
transmits the recording so it can be turned into text. The recording is not
stored on our server.
- Purpose: understanding your wish, creating the picture
- Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) GDPR
- Retention: the recording is not stored
4.3 Device details and installation identifier
During the silent registration the app transmits:
- device model and operating system version
- app version
- the language you have set
- the country of your App Store account
- a random installation identifier
- a confirmation issued by Apple that the app is genuine (App Transaction)
The installation identifier is a random number. It is linked to no name, no
address and no account, and we cannot work out from it who a device belongs to.
This identifier stays stored even after you ask us to delete your other data.
The reason: every installation receives a free quota on first launch. Without
the identifier the same device could keep collecting free pictures by
reinstalling the app over and over.
- Purpose: preventing abuse, assigning your quota, narrowing down errors
- Legal basis: legitimate interest in a working service that is safe from
abuse, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR
- Retention: the installation identifier is kept permanently. Everything
else is removed on request.
We use no advertising identifier and do not track you across other apps or
websites.
4.4 Bug reports and feature requests
If you report a bug or send us a wish, we process the title, your text and the
comments on that case.
- Purpose: handling your report
- Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR
- Retention: until the case is closed
4.5 Subscriptions
If you buy a subscription, the purchase runs through Apple. Apple tells us that
a valid subscription exists and gives us a purchase identifier. We never see
your payment details; they stay with Apple, who is responsible for the payment.
- Purpose: unlocking the quota you booked
- Legal basis: Article 6(1)(b) GDPR
5. What stays on your device
The app stores your projects, your photos and every draft in the protected area
of your device. Nothing but the app can reach them there. Delete a project or
the app and that data is gone.
6. Recipients
Our servers are located in Germany and we run them ourselves. We pass data on to
these parties only:
- OpenAI Ireland Limited, Dublin, Ireland – creating the pictures and
turning your recording into text. A data processing agreement under
Article 28 GDPR is in place. OpenAI keeps the transmitted content for up to
30 days to detect abuse and deletes it afterwards. It is not used to train AI
models. Where OpenAI transfers data to countries outside the European
Economic Area, it does so on the basis of the European Commission's standard
contractual clauses under Article 46 GDPR.
- Apple Inc., Cupertino, USA – handling purchases and subscriptions. Apple
acts as its own controller in doing so.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access (Article 15), rectification (Article 16), erasure
(Article 17), restriction of processing (Article 18), data portability
(Article 20) and objection (Article 21 GDPR).
Write to us at info@peppertools.de. On your request we remove everything
belonging to you or anonymise it. The installation identifier is kept for the
reason given in section 4.3; it allows no conclusion about who you are.
You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The one responsible for
us is:
Die Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz Niedersachsen
Prinzenstraße 5
30159 Hannover
Germany
8. Children
The app is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data
from children.
9. Changes
We update this policy when the app changes. The version in force is the one on
this page; the date at the top tells you how current it is.
